They came to church sporting their college colors because New Hope United Methodist Church in Rowland, N.C. was celebrating United Methodist Student Day.

Trustee Chairman Joseph Johnson came to church wearing a Fayetteville State University shirt, and Youth Leader James Hampton wore a University of North Carolina at Pembroke shirt. They weren’t competing. They came to the Sunday morning service dressed in their college colors to celebrate New Hope United Methodist Church’s College Day. The purpose of United Methodist Student Day is to support students as they prepare for life in uniting faith and knowledge.

The newly formed Youth Inspirational Choir, accompanied on the keyboard by Byron Hallman, and directed by Tonya Alford and Kawana (Vet) Washington, along with the Men’s Choir accompanied on the piano by Aniesha Alford, provided the music for the celebration.

The Youth Inspirational Choir is a project undertaken by the New Hope United Methodist Church Youth Fellowship Ministry.
